The Rise of Snapchat – Is this the end of Insta-Era?

Here we are, about to talk about a guilty pleasure we all share – The Social Media, wasn’t that hard to guess, was it? Started as a fad among teenagers (or thought as one), it quickly absorbed almost the entire globe in its circle. But we aren’t here to scroll through an expository article on social media, are we? Well, certainly true. We are just having a quick glance at the whole scenario.

In a not-so-distant past, Facebook reigned supreme in the social media world then, Instagram took over the throne. But now, Instagram is reduced to an emperor without an audience and the one guilty for this is Snapchat.

Just like the “Survival of the fittest”, Snapchat is the new fit in the social media galaxy. The reason Snapchat takes the cake is due to its unconventionality that allure us like –

The Me thing

We start off with something that is pretty much self-explanatory. Let’s take Facebook, for example, it’s design chews away creativity. One has to think hard before posting anything. Facebook’s design allows one to post something that sings the “its relevant” song.

Instagram on the other hand, improves upon it to a certain extent. You can ease your muscles a bit while posting on Instagram, but still, you must think before you post. Here too, your photos or videos or anything else must be well-polished. You can’t post just about anything.

Now, raise the curtains for Snapchat. It’s a platform that allows you to be the crazy stupid you. You don’t have to employ the applications of logic, reason or relevance. The reason for it? Well, because it was designed to be like this. The main idea behind Snapchat is to allow people to be themselves.

The Temporary Stuff

Now let’s look at how we post something on Instagram. We take care of all the rough edges, polish it to perfection and then post it. So much effort on a single post and the reason for it –  Anything we post on Instagram is eternal. It’s permanent. You have a new photo or video you want to share? Well then, put your eyeglasses on and start editing.

Time to review our other contestant, Snapchat. Here, you can say sayonara to this before-post optimizations. All that you post or share on Snapchat is there for a specific period of time( like a few hours) and then whoosh, it’s gone. That’s the nature of its design. So, here you can afford to be organic.
